Hi buddy,

Denpasar is the capital city of Bali Province since 1960 up to now, the former capital of Badung Empire which controlled the southern island of Bali since the late 18th century until conquered by the Dutch in 1906. Denpasar is the location for the Office of the Governor of Bali and other important government offices, including the post office, international banks, airlines and hospitals.

Denpasar word means 'in the north market'. Denpasar is a city with rapid growth, especially since the growth of the tourism industry in 1960. Denpasar city has a population of 1,000,000 people. Jalan Gajah Mada is the city's main shopping center, and at the end of this road there is a statue called Statue Catur Muka. Catur Muka statue has four faces looking towards the four winds, the statue was made in 1972 to remember the Badung War On 20 September 1906 which is known as Puputan Badung.
Field and Sculpture, located in the southeast Statue Catur Muka called Puputan Badung, to remember where the King of Badung with people fighting against the Dutch until he died in 1906.

Around the Badung Square and Statue Puputan you also get the story of the history of Bali. To the north there is Puputan Badung building called 'Jaya Sabha', which is the official office of the Governor to entertain important guests dine while enjoying the performances of Balinese culture. In the east Puputan Badung have built a temple in 1968 called 'Pura Jagatnatha', which is a place to worship (God) Ida Sang Hyang Widhi Wasa. Hindus in Denpasar come to this temple to pray, especially on full moon nights.

You also do not forget to visit the south of Bali Pura Jagatnatha are Museum of whom I had spoken on the last post and the so-called 'Bajra Sandhi' built in 1931 by architect named Curt Grundler. Arsiktekturnya a combination of buildings and palaces. In the museum's stored collections of artistic objects and artifacts from prehistoric times to the modern era. Another place into a tourist destination is Puri Pemecutan (Pemecutan Palace). This palace has been rebuilt according original shape after being destroyed by the Dutch army in 1906. In this palace also kept a set of gamelan gold and artefacts as heritage royal era. Enjoy history in particular Denpasar and Bali in general.
